Victorian Scarab Beetle Pin**
Pins and pendants have been worn large but became much more elaborate and usual in the late medieval and early renaissance period. When the fashion for clothing was to have more chest showing called décolleté, pendants took over - either suspended on ribbons, cloth or chains. They would also often join a regular necklace as an additional adornment.
Pins came in the fashion more in the 19th and 20th century, to be worn by either men or women and generally on the lapel or shoulder of their garment.
